Details for the stations in West Wiltshire
Avoncliff Halt - formally a request stop - survived the 'Beeching axe' due to the poor road access to the hamlet and celebrated its centenary in 2006. It is served by the semi-fast Bristol / Great Malvern / Gloucester to Westbury / Weymouth trains operated by Great Western Railway which give an hourly service during the day in each direction. Additional northbound trains call during the morning peak to give a half hourly service. Changing trains at Bath or Westbury gives onward connection possibilities to many other destinations.

Bradford-on-Avon is served by the hourly Cardiff to Portsmouth trains and the Bristol / Great Malvern / Gloucester to Westbury / Weymouth trains operated by Great Western Railway which together give a service during the day of two trains per hour in each direction. GWR operate one (very) early morning direct service to London Paddington, but unfortunately no direct return service.

Dilton Marsh Halt is a request stop which is served in the main by the semi-fast trains that run between Westbury and Warminster operated by Great Western Railway. This gives a very modest service during the day which can mean a gap of up to two hours between trains. Changing trains at Westbury or Warminster gives onward connection possibilities to many other destinations.

Melksham is on the 'Trans-Wilts' Swindon to Westbury (via Chippenham and Trowbridge) line. It is served by eight daily services in each direction operated by Great Western Railway. Most run from Swindon to Westbury and back, although two southbound trains originate from Gloucester and continue on to Southampton Central, and two northbound trains continue on to Cheltenham Spa.

Trowbridge is served by the hourly Cardiff to Portsmouth trains and the Bristol / Great Malvern / Gloucester to Westbury / Weymouth trains operated by Great Western Railway. GWR operate one (very) early morning direct service to London Paddington, but unfortunately no direct return service. Trowbridge is also on the 'Trans-Wilts' Swindon to Westbury (via Chippenham and Melksham) line, so is also served by the eight daily return services operated by GWR running on this route.

Warminster is served by the hourly Cardiff to Portsmouth trains operated by Great Western Railway and a few return services to London Waterloo operated by South Western Railway. In addition, a number of GWR operated local trains from the north turn back at Warminster, giving additional services in the direction of Westbury.

Westbury is the area's interchange station, served by the hourly Cardiff to Portsmouth trains, the Great Malvern / Gloucester to Westbury / Weymouth trains, the Swindon to Westbury (via Melksham) trains operated by Great Western Railway and a few daily return services to London Waterloo operated by South Western Railway. In addition, Westbury is served by London Paddington to West of England trains operated by GWR, which give onward connection possibilities to many destinations.
